We provide our self build customers with all the required specialist equipment, together with technical advice before and during the build. The result is everything you need for your pools development at a set price.

If so, Oyster Pools also offer a consultancy service for the professional builder, or self-builders, who need more support.

Consultancy

Oyster Pools & Leisure offer a consultancy package to assist customers who may wish to build their own swimming pool, or use their preferred builder to do so for them.

The package is designed to work to the strengths of everyone:

The builder - Only undertakes conventional foundations, wall building, rendering, screeding and laying coping stones.

Oyster Pools - Undertake the speciality swimming pool installations, such as, fitting flow equipment, pool plumbing, measuring and fitting the liner and commissioning the pool.

The Consultancy package comprises a minimum of four working days (not all in whole day units) which generally follow this format.

• Initial site visit to meet with customer/builder/designer and agree dig plan, plant layout, etc.
• Once initial excavation has been done, Oyster will position the fittings in the pool floor and then leave, returning at relevant points within the build to position and/or plumb relevant pool fittings.
• When the pool shell is complete, we will measure the pool and order the liner. We will return to fit the liner, once it manufactured, which takes approximately 7-10 working days. Finally, once the pool is full, we will commission the completed pool with the client.
• If the pool is to be enclosed, we can provide advice and guidance on the best methods of dehumidification and environmental control. This includes design of ducting to heat and dehumidify the air as well as heating the pool, whilst achieving optimum airflow. Click HERE for more information.

Wooden Pools

Increasingly popular as a contemporary design choice. They harmonise beautifully in natural surroundings, and compliment modern decking systems.

Whether you install your pool above ground, sunken, or half-in, our self build wooden pool kits could not be simpler to install and come complete with everything you will need from start to finish. This includes liners, surrounds, filtering systems, underwater lighting and a tool kit for the job. We even supply foreman and deputy foreman hats; the only element not included is the water!

As well as standard designs, we also offer bespoke designs to suit your tastes and site conditions. Using high quality pool liners, we only use the best timbers from pressure treated Scandinavian pine for the shell and durable hardwoods for the top rail surround. This ensures a lifetime of 15-years or more before parts replacement will be necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long will a Timbertime Sunsoka pool take to assemble?

A. In respect of all models that do not have the steel side supports, being the BZ3440 ¨ BZ4848 ¨ BZ3434, with a hand picked team of family helpers this should take a weekend ¨ assuming the ground has been prepared. Water finds its own level so ensure the base is prepared correctly.

Q. Do I require any tools?

A. There are tools in the kit ¨ but in addition you will need a battery drill, strong enough to insert some 100+ stainless steel screws. Drill bits should be 3 and 4 mm ¨ best to get a couple just in case! You will also need 50 mm wide masking tape and a stick of chalk. If you are buying the larger pool range then you will also need spanners ¨ 19 mm ring spanner.

Q. Can I submerge the pool in the ground?

A. Yes ¨ a lot of owners do. The sensible height out of the ground is around 750 mm ¨ this gives a nice height to sit on and still assists as a wind barrier against dust & leaves blowing into the pool.

Q. What type of base shall I require?

A. For longevity you should consider installing a sound concrete base. Having said that, many pools are assembled directly on to a soil base ¨ watch out for drains and any services that may need accessing in the future. There should be no sharp edges, or tree roots etc.

Q. Can the pool be heated?

A. Yes - You could use a gas / oil swimming pool boiler, electric heater or heat pump. However, going from experience the majority of customers choose either an in-line electric heater, or Heat pump. The electric in-line heaters are the least costly to buy, but achieve a higher long term running cost. In comparison a heat pump costs more to buy but is incredibly cost effective to run. Q. Can I make the pool any deeper?

A. Yes ¨ by 150 mm. This means you will need a deeper liner.

Q. What is the cost of running the pool including water treatment products?

A. Use £9 a week as an average ¨ this is without heating. The cost can vary depending on use and weather conditions.

Q. Does the wood need treating?

A. The timber used in all Sunsoka models is pressure treated to give you years of service. For aesthetic reasons it is a good idea to bring out the grain annually, using a recognised wood preserver. Dont let any preserver get in the water as it will stain the liner.

Q. Do I need a qualified electrician?

A. Yes, do not attempt any electrical work unless you are qualified. Oyster pools can recommend a qualified electrical contractor on request.
