Solar Covers

Solar covers are essential for preventing pool heat loss. Without one, you'll loose your pools heat over night, costing you a small fortune in heating bills. Solar covers prevent heat loss in two ways; one, by stopping evaporation and two, by the addition of heat to your pool using solar energy from the sun. During the day your solar cover will actually warm the first 6” of pool water. This creates an insulating blanket, keeping the heat in.

The Diamond Aluminium Solar Cover is our best selling cover. It differs from conventional bubble wrap solar covers because of its silver aluminium layer on the underside of the cover (see diagram). This layer provides extra insulation by reflecting light and heat back into the pool. It works in a similar way to the foil thermal blankets used by runners and the mountain rescue service to keep runners and people warm. It also enables the cover to be manufactured thinner, maintaining the same heat retention properties of thicker covers. This makes it easier to roll on and off the pool.

Winter Debris Covers

Winter debris covers are needed to cover outdoor pools over the winter months when the pool is closed. Their main task is to prevent debris such as leaves from getting into the pool. They are also effective at reducing sunlight which helps prevent your pool turning green.

The Cedar Winter Debris Cover is our premium cover. It's manufactured with extra reinforcement, designed to cope with extreme wind conditions. The ideal choice if your pool can be subject to high winds.

The Criss-Cross Winter Debris Cover is our mid-range cover. The strap stitching is continued right across the cover to provide extra strength. This would be a good choice if your pool area can be subject to moderate-high winds.

The Maple Winter Debris Cover is our economy cover. It's the ideal choice for most outdoor pool situations. However, we recommend the Criss-Cross or Cedar options if your pool area can be subject to high winds or, raised bull-nose coping stones, which could wear through the cover.

Safety Covers

Venetian Slatted Covers

The Roldeck automatic pool cover is available for domestic and commercial pools, indoor or outdoor.

They combine all the following properties into one cover:

• Heat insulation
• Evaporation control
• Durability
• Attractive aesthetic appearance
• Safety

The Roldeck cover is manufactured using interlocking sections similar to a Venetian blind. Each section simulates the double glazing design by having a half-inch hollow space between each layer in the section. This results in an effective degree of insulation and evaporation control.

The standard white sections are popular for indoor pools. On outdoor pools there is an option to have solar sections, which has the added advantage of solar heat transfer.

A distinct advantage of using Roldeck covers is that the rainwater will pass through the cover and will not collect on top, avoiding the need to use a pump to remove the water.

A 24-volt motor powers the roller, which can be remotely operated from the control box containing the transformer.

Vinyl Covers ® Coverstar™

The Coverstar automatic pool cover can accommodate almost any shape or style of swimming pool. The options range from straight forward retro-fit systems for existing pools, to fully incorporated under guide, pit mounted systems for new pools.

Coverstar has a solution for almost any pool. Using the deck guides and the powerful hydraulic drive, freeform or shaped pools are not a problem. The Coverstar system has been developed through many years of innovative design, precision engineering and quality production.

• Safety; Children are most at risk in their own back garden when parents believe they are safely in the house. A safety pool cover is considered the number one safety feature you can have on your pool. Coverstar Systems provide safety and piece of mind. They seal the pool with reinforced fabrics and extensively tested automatic mechanisms.

Vinyl Covers ® WALU™

The WALU pool cover is our economy pool safety cover. It is a manual safety cover which rolls out over the pool, is fastened down, and provides peace of mind for our customers.

Features:

• The WALU cover is a self-supporting cover which requires no motor, power supply or permanent securing structure and is quick and easy to install.
• The cover is made from a tough PVC coated polyester fibre which contains ultra violet light inhibitors and is resistant to micro biological attack.
• The cover is tensioned across the pool much like a traditional winter cover. Aluminium support poles span the width of the cover.
• All models are operated by a winding handle and include pulling straps, deck fixings and drain holes.
• Only weighs 1.25 kg per meter so can be rolled back by one person using the crank handle, and can be quickly rolled back across the pool using its return strap.
  
  
  
  
  

WALU POOL is available in two models:

• Evolution: For all pool shapes, up to 10m x 5m or 32 ft x 16 ft
• Starlight: For all rectangular pools, without steps, up to 11m x 5.5m or 36 ft x 18 ft

 

Each model is then available in either:

• Opaque: Shuts out light, slowing down the growth of algae and pathogenicmicro-organisms and considerably reduces the use of chemicals.
• Translucent: During the day, it captures solar energy to keep your pool heated throughout the summer, which represents an appreciable energy saving.

Both the Opaque and Solar versions of WALU POOL covers, trap an insulating air blanket which helps avoid heat losses during the night.
WALU pool covers replace the need for the following:

Pool Finishes

Domestic Liners

Pool liners are the modern, low-cost alternative to concrete pools. That is why Oyster only provides high density, lacquer protected pool liners with integral fungicide and UV inhibitors to ensure many years of service.

A domestic liner is produced to the measurements of your pool. The liner is clipped into a track running around the perimeter of the pool under the copingstones. The liner is made watertight around the pools fittings by using screws, clamping plates and gaskets.

There are two standard thicknesses of domestic Liner:

30 thou (0.7 mm) As standard on Oyster Pools bespoke in-ground pools.
20 thou (0.5mm)

Domestic liners are capable of lasting between 8 ® 12 years if the water is not over heated, and the pools pH and sanitiser levels are kept within the correct parameters. A domestic liner is manufactured to withstand temperatures up to 86°F or 30°C.

Commercial Liner

A commercial liner is designed to withstand temperatures in excess of 32°C (90°F). It is fitted and welded on site, using rolls of 1.5mm thick material. Commercial liners are very adaptable, ideal for awkward or unusually shaped pools.

Oyster Pools use Commercial liners in the following circumstances:

• Commercial pools with high bather loads and higher water temperature requirements.
• Hydrotherapy pools where the pool water temperature is in excess of 35°C.
• Renovation projects of concrete pools.
• Bespoke Liner Pools; where the design dictates a specially tailored finish.

A commercial liner has a life expectancy of approximately 15 years, dependant on how well the pool water chemistry is maintained, and the temperature at which the pool is kept.

Pool Paint

There are two varieties of swimming pool paint; rubberised and water-based.

Chlorinated Rubber Pool Paint is a carefully selected blend of chlorinated rubber, pigment and solvent. In its dried form it will withstand constant immersion in normal pool water, providing both an attractive finish and long-life protection.

NB: If this is the first time the pool has been painted, the first coat should be diluted by 10% using pool paint thinners. Available on request.

• Can be applied either by brush or short pile roller. Do not spray on.
• Leave at least 24 hours (ideally 48 hours) between coats.
• Leave for a period of 14 days before filling with water.
• Coverage rate: 8m2 per litre.
• Do not apply to damp surfaces.

Water-based swimming pool paint has a two part dispersed epoxy coating that provides an economic swimming pool coating for rendered pools. It is a chemical based paint therefore it doesn't fade.

NB: If this is the first time the pool has been painted, the first coat should be diluted by 10%, using water.
