What is a Fastlane®?

The Fastlane is a swim current generator for your existing swimming pool, similar to a treadmill, that allows you to swim for miles without moving an inch. Easily installed in virtually any pool, the Fastlane creates a smooth current that is wider than your body and deeper than your stroke. Ideal for swimming, aquatic exercise and rehabilitation, the Fastlane makes exercise easy and fitness fun.

The unique Fastlane system produces a non-turbulent current that can be set to a speed to suit any swimming or exercise ability. Anyone can learn to use the Fastlane in moments regardless of age or fitness level. The FastlaneÍs highest speed challenges the best competitive swimmer, yet the current can easily be adjusted to suit the beginner and everyone in between.

How the Fastlane Works

The Fastlane hangs from the side of the pool much as a pool ladder does, and like a pool ladder can be incorporated into virtually any swimming pool. The system has two parts: a remotely located hydraulic Power Unit that powers the swim current and the stainless steel Fastlane Swim Unit that mounts pool side. These components are connected by two 1/2" inside diameter hydraulic hoses designed to keep electricity far away from the water.

The pool side Fastlane Swim Unit includes a waterproof hydraulic motor that turns our custom-designed 16" propeller and an innovative channelling system that straightens and smoothes the swim current. The two sweeping stainless steel rails that suspend the Fastlane in the pool carry the hydraulic hoses over the pool coping and into the motor. At the bottom of the Fastlane water enters from all directions, including the back, through fine-mesh stainless steel intake grills. Unlike a hot tub or pool with a narrow 2" diameter intake, the FastlaneÍs intake is 687 square inches in area (nearly five square feet), eliminating all worries about suction danger.

The rugged 5 horsepower Power Unit can be located up to 200' from the pool, optimally with your other pool equipment. We offer a weatherproof hood should it be placed outside. The Fastlane comes with 5 gallons of biodegradable vegetable oil, to supply the Power Unit system. This is designed not to cause damage to the environment if spilt.

Choosing a location

The Fastlane swim system can be installed in virtually any in ground concrete, gunite, vinyl-lined or fibreglass pool, and in many above ground pools as well. The Swim Unit can be placed in water as shallow as 35". Generally speaking, if the pool is deep enough to swim in, itÍs deep enough for a Fastlane.

Select a location for the Swim Unit that is at least 12' from the opposing wall of the pool. This will provide you a luxurious 10'-long ñlaneî to swim in. As you can see, this requirement is easily accommodated by a variety of pool shapes and sizes.

Because the Swim Unit is bolted to the pool surround, the Fastlane must have 29" of solid ground from the waterÍs edge to the mounting site. If your surround is not this wide, it should be easy to pour a fresh concrete pad, or extra slabs to secure the mounting bracket.

Once youÍve decided where to locate the Swim Unit, choose a location up to 200 feet away for the Hydraulic Power Unit. As a practical matter, many homeowners site the Hydraulic Power Unit with their other pool equipment although it may be located in a garage or basement close to electric power if a functioning floor drain is nearby. When the Hydraulic Power Unit is outdoors it must have our optional Weather Shield installed to protect it from rain.

NOTE: The Hydraulic Power Unit does emit a reasonable amount of noise, this should be taken into account when choosing your location
